Keeping it Real

Everyone that knows that I really like my house to be clean but I have changed a little with motherhood. Pre-Paisley I would spend every Saturday cleaning the house from top to bottom but my priorities have changed. From time to time you will see:

Dishes piled up in the sink.

Laundry that needs to be folded.

Dust that you can write in.

And my craft room (I mean, Toby's office) a mess when I am in mid-project.

But at the end of the day I know that the dishes in the sink are not hurting anything because I got to read three books instead of two. I can fold the clothes during commercial breaks or move them to the couch until tomorrow, the dusting can wait (but I did dust tonight - the happy face was driving me crazy) and Toby is talking about moving his office. I think this is a GREAT idea; I mean if that is what would make him happy I totally support his decision. :o)

Way Back Wednesday - Family Photo

Last weekend I started a BIG spring cleaning project. I decided that it was time to reevaluate our little storage space under the stairs in the basement. (A friend is having a garage sale so this is a great time to purge) While going through all of the boxes I have uncovered some old family photos, so for Way Back Wednesday this week I wanted to share one of the pictures. I think that this picture was taken for the church directory in Concordia maybe in 1989. I love that in this picture you can see similarities us and our babies and I LOVE Josh's little bow tie! Seriously mom...what were you thinking?!

Create Something New - Teatowel Apron

I love craft projects! I am always on the look out for a fun new project to try. A blog that I follow, Joy's Hope, is full of all kinds of yummy projects. A recent post titled, Handmade is better, featured a tutorial for a teatowel apron. It is a very easy project for any skill level. Here are a few of the aprons I have made so far.

P.S. Mom tell me your favorite one and I will put it in the package we are sending you.

The Good, The Bad and The Messy

The Good:
We got good news at the doctor. Paisley is healing nicely and fast. She is now in a smaller splint. No cast. YEA!! The problem at night was due to the old splint being inside out. That's right you heard me correctly. The ER put her splint on inside out. So at night when she would lay on her arm for any amount of time the hard plaster part would rub/put pressure on her sore arm. I am pleased to announce that last night Paisley got a full night of pain free sleep. Double YEA!!

The Bad:
My cold from last week is now an ear infection and a sinus infection. I am now on meds so I hope that I will be well soon. Poor Toby, I have been a bear lately! This is what I have looked like this week.

The Messy:
This little girl LOVES spaghetti! Every time she eats it, it is all over the place.

Bad Night

I spoke to soon. Night time is the hardest for her. She moves to much in her sleep and I think she must either bump her arm or twist it or something because every night so far she has woke up crying because her arm hurts. Friday night was the worst she was up every hour but now it is only once or twice a night. Tonight it took more pain meds (4 hours had passed so it was safe), crackers, water and lots of hugs and kisses. This is a picture of her eating her cracker and crying. I hate that she is hurting!

Arm Update & Nest Project

Update on Paisley's Arm:
We have an appointment to see the orthopedic specialist on Thursday. I will post again on Thursday to let everyone know how it goes. So far the brake has not slowed her down at all. I have caught her jumping on the bed twice. I swear she is going to give me a heart attach.

Nest Project:
My mom has started collecting nests. Paisley also really like nests and thanks to mom's last visit Paisley now has a nest of her very own. So we decided to return the favor and make a nest to send to her.

Paisley was so excited to get to make her Nana a nest (and to paint the eggs).

Paisley making the nest.

Painting the eggs and my fingers.

The finished product! I think it turned out pretty good. I hope you like it mom. It will be in the mail soon.

No Fun Friday

Friday was not a good one for the Vincent house hold. It started with me in bed all day with a nasty cold and ended with a trip to the ER with Paisley. Paisley was trying to bring a blanket up stairs when she tripped and fell. An X-ray confirmed that she broke both bones in her little arm. They put her in a brace until we can see the orthopedic specialist next week for a real cast. She was so brave! The only time she cried was when they pushed on her arm. Oh, I forgot to mention that I was accidentally offered a job.

Happy Easter from our family to yours!!

Paisley in a dress! Believe it or not, she will ware dresses now but only to church. (Thank you Jack and Brandy for the dress. It still fits.)

Today was a GREAT day! Church. Family. Food. Who could ask for more?
Paisley's Easter basket.

This year dinner at Gi-Gi and Papa Jim's house was a little different. (My sister and her family are in Colorado with her in-laws) They were missed very much! Paisley keep asking when Rylee and Avrey would get there. She loves her little cousins but she sure has a lot of fun with the bigger girls.

The weather was cold and rainy today so Paisley hunted for eggs in the house. She didn't mind. I however ran out of creative places to hide the eggs.

The boys (my dad and brothers) being silly! We have so much fun when we all get together.

I love Saturday!

Toby and I have a deal worked out on the weekends. I sleep in on Saturday and he sleeps in on Sunday. So when Paisley wakes up we go to the basement with her for breakfast, cartoons and play time while the other person is blissfully asleep upstairs. This advice was passed to us by a friend at our baby shower and it is advice that we pass to new parents. It helps keep us sane and happy and allows for one on one time with Paisley.

Sorry, back to today, it was a day at home with no plans. YEA!! When I finally woke up Paisley and I played a new game. (I found the game Crocodile Dentist at the airport in New Jersey and picked it up) This game cracks me up! After losing twice Paisley was starting to not trust Mr. Crocodile and I was able to stop laughing long enough to make this video of round three.

P.S. I talk with my hands a LOT!

Girls Weekend

I'm back from an extended girls weekend with Maggie (a friend from work) to visit friends in New Jersey (Brandy, Jack and Baby the cat). We had a blast!! It is always nice to get together with friends.

Our first night there we made dinner and chocolate dessert calzones. I was introduced to Nutella. Yummy!!

Saturday was spent at the spa followed by shopping and dinner at the Melting Pot. We had a GREAT dinner with the best martini (a Love Martini) I have ever had. This picture was taken in the CVS next to the Melting Pot after a few too many Love Martini's.

We rounding out our weekend with a little road trip to D.C. for the Cherry Blossom Festival. We couldn't have asked for better weather. In fact it was nicer in D.C. then here in Kansas (who would have guessed). We also visited the White House, Lincoln Memorial, the U.S. Capitol Building, Thomas Jefferson Memorial, and Washington Monument.

On our way back to Jack and Brandy's house we stopped in Baltimore for dinner and to see Charm City Cakes. (Food Network show Ace of Cakes) YEA!!! We didn't get to see Duff or anyone else but it was fun just being there. Toby was super jealous.
