10 Things...I've been tagged

I've been tagged by Clare!

10 things you might not know about me:
1. I sleep with a nightlight.
2. I broke my right thumb in two places when I was in the 6th grade (a soccer injury).
3. I love weddings. I don’t even have to know the couple getting married. Weddings just make me happy.
4. When I was in the 3rd grade I want to be a professional soccer player until my teacher told me “Sarah, the odds of you becoming a professional athlete is very slim.”
5. I have always wanted to live in Maine.
6. My biggest fear is leaving Paisley motherless.
7. After knowing each other for four months Toby and I got engaged.
8. The first time I met Toby’s family I was all by myself because he was still stationed in Iceland. (It was the bravest thing I had EVER done.)
9. I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.
10. When I am mad or upset I need to clean or organize. It helps me clear my head and keeps me from saying mean things.

Create Something New - Hair Bow

Our mornings are very rushed around here so spending a lot of time on our hair is not an options. As a result hair bows and barrettes have always been our best friend for Paisley. I decided that it was time I figured out how to make these myself. With the help from this tutorial I have completed my first bow. It is a BIG hit in our house and at daycare. With all the little girls in our family I think this 'how to guide' is going to come in handy!

(I will add a picture of the bow in Paisley's hair later)

I have a Hero

…his name is Dad! Happy Father's Day dad. I love you so much!

One of the greatest things about having a daughter is knowing the first man they fall in love with their dad. Happy Father's Day Toby. You are GREAT dad!

And Happy Fathers day to all dads in my life (Randy, Guy, Bob, Stephen, Josh, and Johnny)! Enjoy your day. You have earned it.

Girls Just Want To Have Fun

Today was an amazing day spent with my little lady! We started our day out touring three different preschools in three hours. (Toby and I are talking about move her to preschool but we can't decide if we are going to do it this year or wait until next year). Paisley was such a trooper! She enjoyed meeting/talking to new people and playing with all the new toys.

We took advantage of the nice weather today with a picnic in the park. Paisley loved it. She talked the whole time. Talked about the wind, the bugs, the animals and she even talked TO the birds in "Bird English" - her words not mine. It went something like this "Mommy its very windy!" "Mommy look that that bug. Hit it!" "I see a squirrel mommy, I think he is hungry." "Tweet. Tweet. That's Bird English for Hello Birdie." "Mommy that was very polite of me to say hi to the bird." (Seriously, I don't know where she gets this stuff from)

After lunch we walked the gardens. We are so lucky to live in a town with so many nice parks. Gage Park is one of the best. It has amazing gardens, a pool, a carousel, a train and the zoo (just to name a few of the yummy goodies that this park has to offer). Paisley has entered a stage where we have to work to get a good smile out of her. She would rather make faces at the camera.

She was so well behaved all morning that I treated her with a ride on the carousel.

Followed by a ride on the mini train. This picture was courtesy of the nice lady in the car ahead of us that offered to take a picture of us if I would return the favor and take a picture of her and her little boy.
After the park we headed home for a nap. As I walked out of her room she asked me "Mommy is our girl day over now?" I told her that it was only half way over and that we had more stuff to do after nap time.
After our nap (yes I napped too, it is one of my most favorite things to do) we went shopping for Father's day gifts, we made dinner and ended our day with a swim at the Y. The highlight of my day came at bed time when Paisley said "Mommy, thank you for my very best girls day." I hope she remembers this day always, I know I will!

I have the BEST hubby in the world! Last night I was feeling grumpy (due to too much work, not enough time to do the things that make me happy like playing with Paisley, cleaning my house, sleeping & crafting) so I decided to take a nap after dinner to see if that would snap me out of my funk. I woke up at midnight and went back to sleep until 7:00 this morning. YEAH!! I have felt AMAZING all day long! (I guess that I just needed to recharge my batteries)

I am such a slacker! It has been two weeks and not a peep from me! No, I didn't fall off the face of the earth but I will try to give you a highlight of what you missed while I was slacking on my blogging.

I have been crafting again and here are a few new goodies:
Coasters for our bedroom. They are simple and oh so perfect. (The tiles are from Home Depot and the 'V' from Uppercase Living.)

Kiddie Craft bag. This would have been good on the airplane. Oh, well maybe next time.
Things we have done:
Lots of outdoor play. Including a trip to the Lake with Amy and her boys. We had so much fun. Paisley even rode in the tube all by herself. (Sorry, no pictures, I forgot my camera at home)

Toby and I finished the new floor in his office (the old bar area). So far his office has a new wall separating it from the movie room, new flooring, and paint. It is slow going but we hope to have it finished this Fall.
Clare and I set out Saturday armed with our list of garage sale locations, a budget and shopping list and boy did we hit the jack pot. Ok, so maybe I was the only one with a list but I got everything on it and I stayed within my budget. A few of the goodies I snagged: these two chairs (I have big plans for updating them for my new craft room - Toby's old office/laundry room), the bounce and spin zebra , golf balls, soft balls, winter clothes for Paisley and a ton of glass jars in all shapes and sizes (to store small craft/scrapbook stuff).
Rylee and Avrey's dance recital. They both did a wonderful job! I don't know that I have ever been more proud of them before. We love you girls!

In the Garden

A few new touches in my garden to report and I have to say that I am really enjoying having a garden more than I thought I would. So far all of my plants are still alive. YEAH!! Good job me!

Vacation Stepping Stone. I have seen this done before and love it.

And look what I found...fabulous chairs at Big Lots! Of course I had to get them because they were totally made for my garden. Duh!! I think my new setting area still needs a few finishing touches; like colorful flower pots and a bright white trellis (I think Toby's new birthday gift, a nail gun, will come in VERY handy).
