Party Time

Noah's 2nd Birthday bash!

We had so much fun celebrating Noah's birthday at the Kansas City Northern Railroad. What a fun place. I think all of the kids (and adults) loved the train. We even got all the kids to raise their arms in the air and scream when we went in the tunnel.

Happy Birthday little man! We love you lots and lots!

Tennis Anyone?

I'm working on dropping the last bit of baby weight (am I still allowed to call it baby weight if my 'baby' is 3?) Well, I have started taking tennis lessons and last Tuesday was my first night. We were only going to practice for an hour but ended up working for an hour and a half. It was the best workout (without FEELING like a workout) that I have had in a very long time. I think that I did a pretty good job. I only hit myself once (the bruise is almost gone), I totally missed the ball only a few DOZEN times, and I almost hit a little boy once. I had fun (minus almost hitting a kid) and I can't wait for my lesson this week. Wish me luck!

Goodies

I hit the jack pot!

Friday morning on my way into work I stopped at a garage sale and was able to score all these goodies for $9.00. (I am sorry for those of you that talked to me Friday morning. I get overly excited when I get a really good deal.) The breakdown of all my goodies:
Two jeans (one Old Navy and one GAP), two light jackets (both Old Navy), a Tweed suit, a winter coat (Columbia), a KU baby hat (for Clare's next baby - someday), 5 burp cloths and 8 onesies (to practice appliqueing).

Then at lunch I did a little more shopping downtown and got all of these goodies for $11.00.

Then Paisley and I got a little carried away at the Library but we had so much fun. Paisley picked out a few books (she is really into dinosaurs right now), an activity bag with books and music makers, and a few CD's of Kids songs. She loves singing and dancing! Then I got a few books for preschool (ideas on ways to work with letters, numbers and reading) and I found a new magazine call 'Pack-O-Fun' (I checked out 4 different issues). This magazine has tons of fun craft ideas to make with kids by season/holiday. We can't wait to start making these crafts. Paisley loves working on projects with me. She is my little crafting buddy.

Give Away

I am hosting my very first give away here on my blog. What I am giving away you ask?
These two little guys!

Met Oscar. He is about 5 years old. (We adopted him from the shelter here in town a few weeks before we found out I was pregnant with Paisley.

After a few months with Oscar we decided that he needed a friend to play with. So we adopted Doc (about 5 years old) from the same shelter. We were thinking that two of them would almost equal a full size dog.

These two fun little guys could be yours just leave me a comment and I will be happy to bring them to you. They love to play (and by play I mean bark) outside all day long. Our neighbors love us! They are house broke (and by house broke I mean they are costing us a small fortune to clean everything they pee on). Our furry children need to move out of the house, go away to college or go on a nice LONG drive in the country. The final straw was when Paisley came out of her playroom and said "Mommy, Oscar just peed on my trampoline. He did like this (she lifted her leg and said pisssssss)." GRRRRR!!!!

But then they will do something so cute or give me that sad little face and all is forgiven until they pee again.
(Oscar)

(Doc)

(No dogs where harmed in the making of this post.)

Great News

Another story from my adventures in mommy hood. It went something like this:

Paisley: Mommy all these toots make me need to go poo-poo
Me: Well go. Don't talk to me about it; just go to the bathroom (I know not very nice)
Paisley: OK, OK, I'm going.
(Paisley is in the bathroom and I am in the kitchen making dinner when she yells to me)
Paisley: Mommy I have great news
(I go in to see what great new she could have - great to her might not be great for me)
She is standing by the toilet with her undies around her ankles pointing to her bottom.
Paisley: I wiped my bottom all by myself aren't you so proud of me?

Oh, the joys of a three year old!

How Short Is Too Short?

That is the question in our house. On Friday we took Paisley in to get a trim and they cut almost 2 inches off. It is MUCH shorter than last time and at first I was a little unsure about the length but now I think it looks soooo cute! Toby is still not sure (he really likes long hair). This cut makes her hair look so full and healthy. I love it!
(She was standing funny - pushing out her belly)

And she LOVES it! And that is all that matters.

Magic

Now you see it.

And now you don't!

Thank you Donna and Val for suggesting the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It worked like a charm. I am now a BIG fan!

Also, I wanted to give everyone an update on Paisley's grounding. It has been lifted. She is now a free bird. She can play in her toy room again. She is very happy.

Way Back Wednesday – The Evolution of my Ride

Meet Sloppy, my first car. It was an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, hatch back, with a red interior and silver/rust spots for the exterior. The back windows didn't roll down but that was ok because the radio rocked! It was the kind of radio that shook the review mirror. Yes I was THAT punk kid listening to my music too loud. The same kind of kid that drives me CRAZY now!

My Ford Probe. This was a BIG step up from Sloppy. I just started my new job on the Plaza and needed an newer/nicer car to drive. While owning my probe I found out that I didn't want a two door car when I had kids (I watched a friends little boy all the time during the days of the Probe).

The Jeep. Man did I LOVE my Jeep! I just felt cool driving it. Sure the sun roof leaked and it had a TON of miles but I sat higher off the ground, it got around better in the snow and come on, it was a JEEP!

Grand Am
The Jeep was on it's last leg so we traded it in for my Grand Am before me moved to Topeka. I wanted a family car and this fit the bill. Only my car was this coll tan/copper color. This was my first car with a warranty.
Highlander
My current car, I mean SUV. YEAH!! I have an SUV again. I love all the extra room. And it is so nice not having to bend down into my car to get Paisley buckled up. (It was vary foggy this morning)

Pity Party

Table for one please. At my pity party today I am serving chocolate, soda (Mr Pibb to be exact) and tears (lots of tears).

Why the party you ask? Well, let me tell you.
Reason #1: I am still NOT pregnant. As many of you know we have been trying for baby number two for awhile now. We have had a few false hopes and this last one set me over the edge. It was to much to handle today. Lots and lots of tears over the last week.

Reason #2: My close friend here in town, Clare and her family are moving at the end of the month. Both she and her hubby got new jobs and will be relocating to KC. This is also making me happy for them but pretty sad me me. (Que the chocolate)

Reason #3: The stress from my job is really getting to me. I find myself in meetings for big chunks of the day and by the time I get to my desk to do the work that needs to get done it is almost time to leave. I try not to bring work home but there are just not enough hours in the day to get it all done. This makes for a very LONG work week and cuts into my time with my family. (Que the Mr. Pibb)

These things may not be very big to others but it is whats going on with me right now and why I may not be acting like myself. After dwelling on the not so happy stuff I think it is time to move on to the happy things in my life. The things that I am thankful for. A few of them are listed below in no particular order.

Reason #1: My happy, healthy child. I am so thankful that I have her to come home to every night and when I wake up I love to hear her sweet little voice say "Good morning mommy is it Saturday yet?" (she knows that Saturday is not a daycare day and she gets to spend the day with us).

Reason #2: My very supportive and understanding husband. I have been a crazy person for the last few weeks and he has been great. When I cry he knows if it is a cry that needs a hug or one that needs space. He even suggested I stay home or look for a different job if it would make me more happy or decrease my stress. (What a good man)

Reason #3: Great friends. Most of which are in the Kansas City Area but distance doesn't matter (and it really isn't that far). We have lots of options of who to visit when we are in town.

Reason #4: A job. Yes, it is stressful but it is a job that pays the bills, gives me benefits and allows me a little extra money to do the things I love like crafting and shopping.

Reason #5: A Plan. I know that things will happen for us when they are meant to and that the Plan for me may not be the plan I think it is. It is hard to remember at times but something I am working on.

Ok, this pity party is over! Thanks for letting me get it off my chest. Tomorrow will be a better day!

Long Night

Sunday night I was up late crafting. After getting to sleeping in until 9:30 on Saturday (thank you Paisley) and getting to take a 3 hour nap (thank you again Paisley). I had energy to burn. Look at the fun goodies I made.

Babysitting

Last night we picked up my niece Torey for the weekend. In the first few hours she peed on Toby and spit up on him about four times (what a good girl). Today went just as well. She has been so happy and talkative. It has been very weird to see baby things around our house. Paisley has been very helpful (when she wants to be) but I think that she might be getting just a little jealous. Thank you so much Josh and Korey for letting us watch her. We hope you guys enjoy your baby free weekend and happy birthday Korey! Here are a few cute pictures and movies from yesterday and today.

Torey LOVES Uncle Toby and his funny faces!

A clean baby is a happy baby.

Monster baby!

So, I think that Paisley might be just a little jealous of Torey being here. What do you think? A few pictures of her new 'Art Work' she made us today. She comes out of her playroom and says:
Paisley: I'm sorry about the wall. Everything is ok, just don't look at the wall.
Toby: Paisley what is wrong with the wall?
Paisley: Nothing. Just don't look at it.
When we went in to the room this is what we see. (The marker that was used is a dry erase marker that she has had in her room since Christmas.)
Why now is it on the wall? Does anyone know how to get it off?

Think happy thoughts! There is a very cute little baby in our house to play with that in not sassy.
Happy thoughts! This too shall pass.
Happy thoughts! No one was hurt.
Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts! Happy thoughts!

Where are you?

Where are you my sweet little girl? Where have you gone and who is this monster in my house that looks just like you?

It looks like we have reached a new phase. We are going to call this phase the 'I am going to test all the rules and push all the buttons to see when my mommy and daddy are going to go crazy.' I have high-lighted a few of the most recent evens in this phase.
Exhibit 'A' in this new phase: I was working after hours one night when Paisley wanted a second ice cream (hers had melted while she was playing). I told her no to which she said "Well, mommy I wasn't going to ask you. I'm going to ask Stephanie." I calmly told her that when mommy tells you no it means no and not to ask anyone else. She didn't like this answer and softly hit my arm saying "You are not nice" and as she walked away (almost out of ear shot but not quite) I heard her say "Well, I don't like your shirt!"
Exhibit 'B' in this new phase: A few of our bad words (whatever, butt head and idiot) are making a comeback. And the kicker is when we ask her what she said she will look at us and say "Nothing, I didn't say anything."

Exhibit 'C' in this new phase: When told that it is time to clean up she will kindly inform us that she either "doesn't have the energy to clean" or "I don't know how. I just forgot mom. I'm sorry. Maybe you can just do it for me." Ok, seriously! I hope this ends soon.
