The Weekend Before Last

The weekend before last we went to another birthday party here in town. The birthday party was at a gymnastics place. Paisley was a bit of a fraidy-cat at first but after a little help she really started to have fun.

The birthday girl had NO fear! You could tell that this is her cup of tea!

Then on Sunday we decided to take a trip to the Zoo. The weather was too nice to stay inside (or at home). I think the animals agreed because they were all out and very active.
Tour guide Paisley at our service!

I think he was VERY board!

And this guy was looking for action!

Way Late Wednesday - Part 1

So I started out strong last week, then Wednesday happened. For some reason our Wednesdays get very full very fast. (I have to apologize ahead of time for this one; it's going to be a long one)
A few weeks ago Paisley and I had a "Girls Night Out". We stared out by going to a purse party at a coworkers house. Paisley REALLY wanted this one but we decided against it. We walked out without spending a dime. Good job us!

After the purse party Paisley and I raced to the Library. They were showing a preview of "Honk! Jr." a musical retelling of "The Ugly Duckling" by Bill Blankenship. (This is a youth production by the Topeka Civic Theatre & Academy) These kids were great! Paisley loved the guy that played the 'Ugly'. He was very funny.

After the play we toured the art exhibit on display at the library; "Waxing Poetic" by Phillip Herschberger. Click here to learn more about this artist. Paisley like looking at all of the different paintings and telling me what she saw. (There was a lot of trees and a few doors). She even quizzed me on my colors, shapes and 'how many' of something was in the painting. I guess we play those games a little too much!

I really LOVE our library! They offer so much fun free stuff for us to enjoy!

Way Late Wednesday - Part 2

A few weeks ago Toby was out of town for a meeting so Paisley and I tried a fun and FREE activity; homemade sidewalk chalk. To make this all you need is cornstarch, water and food coloring. Mix 1/4 cup cornstarch and 1/4 cup water; than add food coloring (as dark as you like or are brave).

It goes on like paint/water and dries like chalk.

My cake!
Later that night; after Paisley went to bed I started to make a cake for a going away party for a friend at work. (Check out her fun travel blog here) This cake was so fun and easy to make. And oh so pretty!
Looks like I need to work on my cake removal a little more (most of the middles stuck to the pan).

I even made my own icing.

Ain't she a beauty?!
Look at all those lovely colors! YUMMY!!
(I got this cake idea from a blogging friend. Check it out here)

This one is going to be short tonight because I am beat! Tuesdays equal tennis. No matter what week it is Tuesday feels the same. It is pick up Paisley from daycare, make dinner, eat dinner, play a little, clean a little and start Paisley's bath (Toby finishes the bath so I can leave for tennis). This all happens before 7:45. The only difference that I have noticed it is I am starting to play a little better. YEA, good job me!! Tonight we worked on my serve and I am pleased to announce that I made half of them in. This is a BIG improvement for me.

The last few Mondays have been spent at home just having fun.
We had front rows seats for a horse parade in the toy room. (Thank you again Brandy and Jack. As you can see Paisley still LOVES her horses!)
Horse down. I repeat we have a horse down!

Thanks to a new CD from the Library we have enjoyed a few shows. (You just can't beat free entertainment!)
And Paisley has completed a few pages from her Pre-K workbook. I was very surprised at how well she did at tracing.

And look how proud she is of herself! It is so nice that she loves to learn.

Sunday, Sunday, Sunday

A few Sunday's again we spend the afternoon at my Grandma and Grandpa's house (GiGi and Papa Jim to Paisley). We played in the pool and caught up with everyone. (It had been WAY to long since our last visit). Then it was off to the ball park to watch Toby play softball. His last real game before the tournament this weekend.
Then last Sunday, after church Paisley and I played in the yard. The first thing we did was play "Find the Toys." This idea came from a blog that I follow (little bit funky). We took the frozen toys to the back yard with a squirt bottle and screwdriver and Paisley went to town.
She even said "Don't worry little buddy, I'll get you out of there."

A great free way to keep her entertained for a good 45 minutes.
Paisley LOVES this little guy (yes we still have them). So it looks like we are stuck with them.

Also, last Sunday was my first tennis match. A few people from work got together and we all played. (My partner and I lost all three matches). I need to practice my serve a little (a lot) more! Tennis was followed by a date night - dinner, shopping and lots of talking. We chose not to go to the movies but walk around instead so we could talk. It felt like we hadn't spend good quality time together in awhile. It was a very nice evening.
After our busy Sunday last week we decided to rest today. Toby softball tournament in KC got canceled. So he and Paisley played while painted my craft room. (I hope to have it complete by next weekend. I will post pictures then.)

Last Saturday we had two birthday parties. First we went to Alexandra's party. (Summer birthdays are so much fun and boy do we know lots of Summer babies!) The kids had so much fun in the pool, the sprinkler and moon bounce.
Paisley modeling the goodies she got from the party.

We also stopped by Toby's parents house to wish his youngest sister Megan a happy birthday. It was the first time we got to see her early birthday present from Reda....a RING!!

That's right we have an upcoming wedding!! YEAH!! Everyone knows how happy weddings make me. I love everything about them. Congrats Megan and Reda!

Today we made the trip back to Toby's parents house again to help celebrate his mom's birthday. It is always fun to visit my in-laws (I'm being serious). They are as nice as they come! Happy Birthday Debbie!! We love you!

We had a nasty flu bug hit our house a few Fridays ago. I missed a few days of work due to not being able to keep anything down. Then Toby got it followed by Paisley. Poor Paisley; she had a very embarrassing day that Friday. First an accident at daycare then she had us make a quick stop at Target because "She had to go!" Let me just say that she is a talker and that trip to the bathroom made everyone in there laugh. (note to self: work on bathroom etiquette).

Last Friday was a craft night. I spent most of the night finishing tutus, hair bows and a hair bow holder for a birthday gift.

Then Paisley and I gathered a few toys that could get wet. We put them in a bowl and Paisley added water. Then I put the bowl in the freezer for us to have fun with on Sunday (I will explain more on Sunday's post). After Paisley went to bed I cleaned the house. In my book a clean house equals a very happy me!

Tonight was low key. We did a little shopping followed by a movie at home. A well deserved night IN (for the most part).

It's Been A While

It’s been a while since my last post. I’m so very sorry. I got so caught up in the everyday stuff that I neglected my blog. Well, that is about to change. Starting tonight I will blog about my day today and the last few Fridays that you have missed. My goal is to do this everyday until I am all caught up. So, check back later to see what has been going on at the Vincent House! We have been VERY busy!
