Christmas in July

I am a planner through and through! I LOVE to plan things and plan FOR things. One of my favorite things to plan for is Christmas. I start shopping the day after Christmas ever year and I keep shopping all year long! I know who is on my list so I keep my eyes open for something that screams their name (and it has to be a really good deal). By shopping this way it allows me to spread out the cost and take my time until I find the perfect gift for everyone. So, it is July and this is my loot so far.

P.S. I am almost finished shopping already and nothing was more than $11.00!

These two are my personal SUNSHINE!
Her smile. His cheeks.
Just make me HAPPY!
That's all for today. I love my kiddos and wanted to share.

Baby James & Big Sister's Birthday

Welcome baby James!

My very good friend Clare welcomed her second baby into this world on Saturday June 26th at 7:14pm. We didn't get to see him at the hospital but we did see him (two weeks later) we had him all to ourselves!
(Ryder is 7 weeks old & James is 2 weeks old in these pictures)

Happy 2nd Birthday Fiona!! I have had the pleasure of getting to play with you at work until you were 5 months old. Also, the joy of seeing many of your first. You are such a sweet, sweet little girl! It was amazing to see all of the new things you can do now that you are two. So big, yet so small! We love you lots and lots!!

This was the first time all three of the boys were together. All of us mommy's were prego around the same time. First we have Dexter -3mths (right w/mommy, Tina), then it is Ryder - 2mths (left w/me) followed by James - 1mth (center w/mommy, Clare). These are some good looking boys!!
Clare, JR, Fiona and James thank you for having us. It was so nice to get to hang out like we use to (when our girls were super small). It is days like this we miss you guys so much more and wish that we lived closer.

4th of July Weekend

We started out our 4th of July weekend with a road trip to Wichita. Toby needed to check a site there so we decided to load up the car and go with him. Our plan was for Toby to work on Friday and then for us to go to the Zoo on Saturday. This was the longest car ride with both kids and they did great! It was also Ryder's first time staying in a hotel and he did wonderful (it was his first night to sleep for 4 hours in a row).

When we woke up on Saturday it was a little cloudy but we headed to the zoo anyway. After we parked, unloaded everything and started to walk towards the entrance it started to rain. So we ran back to the car and unloaded everything. This was a very cruel joke to play on a 4 year old. Paisley was not very happy that we were this close and couldn't go in. So, to calm her down and burn off some energy we ended up going to the Exploration Place (it is kind of like Science City).

After we finished visiting the Exploration Place we stopped for lunch before we headed to KC for Ben & Jen's Annual 4th of July Bash. It is funny how this party has evolved over the years (the kids are taking over).

Baby Shower

I am going to play blog catch-up, so pardon the back tracking.

At the end of June (sorry for the delay) my friends and family had a baby shower to welcome Ryder into this world. Everyone either meet Ryder for the first time or got to see him for the second time. At first I wasn't sold on the whole second shower thing but Amber can be very persuasive and as my friend Tiffany pointed out, Ryder deserves being celebrated also! We are very blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives. I think we are now set on diapers and wipes until he is walking.

Again, thank you everyone for coming to the party and for the wonderful gifts!

Ryder - 2 Months

At your two month appointment you weighed 10 pounds 8 ounces (20%) and were 24.5 inches long (95%). This week you have started to hold my hand when I feed you and I love it! The best part about being a bottle/formula baby....others get to share this moment also.
You love your play mat. You smile and talk to the toys. Paisley thinks that you are so funny when you laugh at your toys.
You are such a happy baby (just like your big sister). You smile and talk ALL the time (again, just like your big sister). When you smile, we smile!

You currently sleep for about 3-4 hours at a time (both night & day). Daddy and I have a pretty good system in place for your night/early morning feedings. Daddy takes the 9pm & 12am feeding and I take the 3am & 6am feeding (this schedule was needed because I have started back to work part time).

I am lucky, thanks to Clare, you get to come to work with me until you are 5 months old. What is not to love for you? You have an office full of woman that love holding you or talking/playing with you. It makes going back to work a little better because I get to have you with me. The first few days were very hard. You got over stimulated and it took days to get you back on schedule but now you are use to the lights, sounds and people. So life at work is going much better for us.
You are doing great holding your head up when we work on tummy time. You are such a strong little man!

You are such a cutie. We love you so much! Your two month pictures are from JcPenny's. (When Paisley was a baby I got her pictures taken every month so I plan on doing the same for you!)

My Broken Heart

Paisley broke my heart at dinner the other day. She asked me if I loved Ryder more than her. (What? Where did this come from?)

I told her no that I love them both the same and that something special happens to mommy's and daddy's when a new baby comes; their hearts get bigger so the can love BOTH kids the same. I asked her why she thought that I loved him more and she just looked down at her dinner plate and started to cry. Talk about heartbreak! So picked her up and we went into the living room so we could rock in the rocking chair and cuddle and talk. She still didn't tell me what made her think she was loved less but I think we worked everything out for now.

What am I doing wrong that this sweet little girl thinks I love him more? It still make me sad to think she felt or feels less loved.
