Our Three Halloween's of 2010

Halloween 2010! This year Paisley was Batgirl and Ryder was The Penguin!

Halloween 1:
On Thursday downtown Topeka had fun Halloween festivities for their last 'Top City Thursday'. (Thank you Barb for telling us about this & joining us; we had a BLAST!)

Me and the kiddos before the fun started

Paisley was able to make a candle a Marion Lane Candles (she chose the candy cane sent for her candle).

She trick-or-treated at The Break Room (one of my FAVORITE lunch places)

We had to stop for LOTS of action shots. Batgirl is a VERY busy girl you know!

And a few of our super cute penguin

Halloween 2:
Paisley was able to ware her Batgirl costume again on Friday at school. The kids trick-or-treated at the retirement apartments by the school and then came back for a parade and party. I wasn't able to make the trick-or-treating but I did make it to the party only to realize my camera was at home. Good job me! At least I got a few pictures BEFORE we left that morning.

Halloween 3:
Sunday the four of us headed over to a friends house for some trick-or-treating fun. But due to fighting about dinner (Paisley didn't think she needed to eat dinner before trick-or-treating but promised she would eat it when we got home - sure, like we were going to fall for THAT!) the group had already left. So the Mommy's handing out candy (thanks Kat & Steph) offered to keep little man so Toby and I could take Paisley out. It was nice to get a little time with just the three of us.

A few pics before we headed out.

Last Day at Work

Today was Ryder's last day at the office and it was bittersweet. I am sad to see him go but know that he will be fine at daycare. I am also sad for myself that I will not get to see him all day but glad that I had this opportunity.

Working is just not going to be the same not being able to do this...

Or look over and see this...

Ryder - 5 Months

At 5 months we are starting to see more and more of your little personality. You are so much fun!! You laugh and smile and talk all the time. I think you might give your sister a run for her money in the talking department!

You have become very attached your blanket (thank you Aunt Hollie) and anything soft. You love to cuddle and that makes this mommy very happy!

And have become VERY interested in your toys (what they do and how they taste).

You are also loving cereal!
So much so that you get upset in between bites.

At your very late 4 month well child check (last week) you measured 27 1/2 in for height (97%) and weighted 16lbs 13oz (69%). You are a growing boy and learning more and more each day.

Field Trip

Today was a first for Miss Paisley Pie.
She went on a field trip with her preschool class to the pumpkin patch.
I was unable to go this year but Paisley and Toby said they had a blast. They went on a hay rack ride, picked out pumpkins and played in the hay.
Look that the height on this jump. This is the difference when Daddy is around; she feeds off of his 'No Fear' attitude instead of Mommy's 'Stay Safe' attitude. Paisley and Kyndall jumping off the hay balesPaisley in the hay tunnel

The Best Part of My Day

I am going to miss having this little boy at work with me. Next Friday is his last day and I am so sad! I know that he will be fine (we LOVE where he will be going for daycare). I know that I will be fine (and a lot more productive working solo). But not getting to hear his laugh, see him smile, or get one of these FABULOUS drooly kisses whenever I need it during the day is just plain sad to think about. So I won't! I will keep working/playing for one more week and be thankful that I had the chance to bring him to work with me.

The "H" Word

This post is FULL of too much information about "Girl Issues" so read with caution.

I have been throwing around the "H" word all week (in all fairness my doctor started it last Friday).

What "H" word you ask?
Hysterectomy is the one that I'm talking about or LAVA to be more exact! (Why, did you think I was saying a different "H" word? Shame on you! Ok, so I might have let that one slip a time or two also but who's counting?!)

Back to the hysterectomy part.
My doctor and I have known that a hysterectomy was in my future and truth be told we both thought that it would have happened sooner than now. Pregnancy has caused more issues to my already crazy girl parts.

Side Story:
When Paisley was 6 months old I had to have two different surgeries: a laparoscopy to help with my out of control endometriosis and one where they put springs in the veins in my uterus (Did you know that you can get varicose veins in your uterus? Neither did I until it happened.)

We knew that if I were to get pregnant again I would need both surgeries again. After my last visit to my OB's office we think the time is upon us. The endometriosis is back and this time it is back with a vengeance. My body is taking a beating. The pain is like it was back in high school where I needed to be in bed on a heating pad for days at a time. Some days the pain in my back makes me throw-up and now I am getting the pain real low in my stomach again (a sign that the varicose veins are back). Also, I have been "Broken" every other week. No joke; I have the dates marked on the calendar to prove it! Just ask Toby he thinks this "I'm broken" is the new "I have a headache" line. (sorry TMI)

This decision is not one that I have made lightly. I have weighted my option: A) have a hysterectomy or B) repeating the same two surgeries that I had when Paisley was 6 months old, followed by two rounds of the Lupron shot (to put me into a fake menopause), then trying different kinds of birth control pills until we find one that helps my cycle just to get me through until I am older to have a hysterectomy. As you can see this decision was easy for me. I have two healthy children (that I never though I would be able to have in the first place) so I do not need the baby factory anymore. Take it OUT! The soonest I can get in is 5 weeks so we are looking at doing this sometime after Thanksgiving but before Christmas. In other words happy birthday to me!

And that my friends sums up the "H" word issue at our house!

Last Friday Paisley and I had a super fun playdate with Clare, Fiona and James.
Clare and the kids started the playdate without me at The Snyder Casa. (I had a follow up appointment with my doctor - more on this in a different post)

After my appointment Clare and I got a chance to catch up on whats new and how we are adjusting/tips for life with new baby boys and big sisters. Then we all went out to lunch at Chick-fil-A (soooo much better than McDonald's) so the girls could play AFTER they ate all or at least most of their food.
I LOVE the fact that our girls love each other and play so well together despite their age difference! I think Vincent/Snyder playdates need to happen more often (hint, hint).

Papa Jim & Paisley

I think this is a right of passage of sorts in our family.
Learning to drive 'something' on Grandpa's knee.
I almost cried when I saw Paisley driving with Grandpa Jim because I remember doing the same thing only on a his tractor. She was having so much fun. I really hope this is something she will remember forever!

I Do It For Her

(Grandma Mickey, Aunt Debbie & Uncle Buck)

(Aunt Debbie and my dad)

(Aunt Debbie and my dad)

(Aunt Debbie & Jeff)

(Aunt Debbie & Jeff - Sorry I couldn't find any pictures with Scott.) Doesn't that statement make you sad, sick to your stomach and mad at cancer?

(Mom and Aunt Debbie with all of us kids)
SHE is the face of Breast Cancer to ME.
She is my Aunt Debbie and she is no longer with us.
She lost her battle with Breast Cancer on 12/29/1993.

save the Ta-Ta's and get them checked!

New Teeth

Dear Teeth,
While I am excited (and a little surprised) that you have decided to make your debut in Little Man's mouth (1st tooth - bottom right: Monday Oct. 4th and 2nd tooth - bottom left: Thursday Oct. 7th); I am more than a little upset with you for making my happy boy not so happy! Ryder has been VERY cranky before and after your arrivals and more drooly than normal. He is also back to sleeping only 4 hours at a time (curse you new teeth and the pain you bring). And don't get me started on the CRAZY pooh pants and extra laundry you have cause. To make matters worse, it looks like you have one more tooth friend on it's way (the top left eye tooth). Please tell your friend that he needs to hurry up already so we can get back to normal. Again thank you for disrupting our happy little home!

One unhappy boy and his sleepy mommy!

When we got married some people said we were crazy and it wouldn't last.
Six years later and people saying....
