Ryder - 8 Months & 9 Days

Ryder Moose,

The running joke right now is that you will be eating steak on your birthday. I am starting to think you took this as a challenge. You currently have 8 teeth and I think you are working on another one but I am not sure what is left to come in at this point.

You love the camera and get very silly when you see it. You are such a HAM! Your laugh and smile are contagious.

You are loving your baby food now and love being able to feed yourself snacks (baby puffs & pinwheels). You are trying to clap and wave but haven't quite master them yet.  You go from laying down to sitting up all by yourself all the time.

You are pulling up on EVERYTHING. We moved your mattress down to the lowest level and a week later I came in to get you up from your nap and you where standing there holding on to the side of your crib and when you saw me you started smiling and jumping. And I love how much you love your big sister. You guys have so much fun together. If you hear her voice you look around trying to find her and then when you see her you get so excited and happy!

Due to your Evil Knievel ways (pulling up on everything) you have your first black eye.
Bottom Step = 1
Ryder = 0

You finally have enough hair for a Mohawk but I don't think you liked the look very much.
(Yes that is another ouchy by your ear. You are VERY close to getting a helmet to play in.)

You are officially crawling, real crawling (no more army crawl) and you are getting fast. You know what you are not allowed to play with and the second one of those items are in your site you take off for it. Almost like you are daring us to get you before you get it. Your most favorite 'no-no' items are cords, the stairs and Paisley's toys.  You are so ornery!

(I love your rolls in this video and your tummy. Oh so cute!)
My only request for next month is to please start sleeping through the night again. These 2:00am feedings are not fun anymore. Don't get me wrong I love getting to cuddle with you but I think it is more just a routine now not hunger so we are going to start working on it.

We are the sick house!

I'm sick.
Toby's sick.
Paisley's sick.
Ryder's sick.

We are all at different stages of the sickness (some are on the mend and others are getting worse).

No energy to post a good blog post.
Need sleep & good meds.

Be back soon (I hope).

Guess Who is Five

As of January 20th; Paisley is! Can you believe it? I can't. It makes me sad (and happy at the same time) to think that my baby is 5!

You are the most amazing 5 year old I know! So funny, smart and kind. You have a smile that lights up the room and the hearts of those around you. You are so thoughtful. You try hard to avoid doing things that will cause someone else pain or extra work. You are the first to ask what you can do to help both at home and school. You LOVE doing craft projects and are very creative. You are aware of your surrounds and what others are doing around you. You take it all in and remember EVERYTHING! You are very interested in how/why things work the way they do. You talk and ask questions ALL. THE. TIME. Always wanting to know more. You are wonderful little girl and I am so happy that you are mine!

How We Celebrate 5

The Big Day:
Paisley woke up on her birthday to a 'Snow Day' - no school. Thank you Mother Nature for once again blessing us with an awesome snow storm. I guess this is something she should get use to having a birthday in January!

Keeping with our birthday tradition Paisley got to open her gifts in the morning (this year it was closer noon so Toby would be home from work) and she picked were we went to dinner. This year: CiCi's Pizza.

After dinner we surprised her with another gift; a bike.

The Party:
Mother Nature decided to give Paisley a break and hold off on the second round of snow until Saturday night. So the roads where clean for our guest, that is until they turned on our street. Sorry everyone we had no control over the streets but thanks for making the drive! Paisley loved seeing everyone.

Tuesday Confessions

One word to describe my sense of humor: twisted.

My weakness: Falls

I can't help myself. When I see a fall; 9 times out of 10 (after I know the person is ok) I will laugh uncontrollable. I will laugh so hard I start to cry, snort, can't breath, and almost pee myself. I am not proud of this trait but it is one I come by naturally (my mom is the same way).

Many have heard both of Toby's falls (if you haven't ask me about it next time we talk - much better in person) and then my fall from New Years Eve (my bottom is still sore) but every time I think about it I can't help but laugh.

One of my all time FAVORITE fall shows is Wipe Out. LOVE. IT. I crack up every time someone falls. I know, I am sick. But watch it and try not to laugh.

Party Planning Weekend

Last weekend was spent gearing up for Paisley's birthday party (this weekend).

Here is a sneak peek of what's to come:

The soon to be birthday girl and the theme she picked; Pink Pirate.
(I am not a big fan of skull & cross bones for kids but she really wanted it and I just couldn't say no to this face)

I finished her outfit today (She has black tights to go under it and black boots).

A Hard Fall

Today I fell off the wagon and I had my first cup of soda.

This was the first one sense November 5th. I am sad to admit it but stress is my trigger and I use food/soda as my "make it better" solution. I know this is not healthy on many levels and I am looking for other way to deal with the stress but this dark & delicious drink is what made my afternoon better today. And don't worry it wasn't as good as I remember it being so I'm not too worried about needing all the time again. Any good ideas on how to deal with stress at work?

Tuesday Confessions

My Tuesday night guilty pleasure is watching 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom on MTV.
This show is soooo BAD but I just can't turn it off! These girls make me laugh, cry and shake my head at how clueless they are. Tune in next week to see what I am talking about.

A Case of the Monday's

Today I had a case of the MONDAY'S for sure!
EVERYTHING that could go wrong at work today; did! I spend my whole day testing and fixing things, then sending out lots of emails to let everyone know where we were with the changes. Right now just thinking about my day again makes me want to cry so I am going to stop and leave you with a funny video. (I watched it like three times and now my bad mood is gone)

Weekend Rewind

This weekend was a low key weekend due to the fact that Paisley was grounded. That's right I grounded my four (almost five) year old for the weekend. The grounding was due to a resent spike in sassiness and meltdowns/hissy-fits.

Friday morning Paisley had a CRAZY meltdown when I dropped her off at preschool because we left her slippers in the car. Then I was told that the meltdowns have been a new thing all week at school. GREAT! Time to act before it gets out of hand. So no TV, toys, friends or going out. She got to keep her sleep animals & books but that was all.

We all spent more time together this weekend talking and reading and taking long naps. Little Miss Pie has only had one meltdown this weekend and is doing better at using her words to explain what is bothering her. Tomorrow (if we get a good report from school) she will get the toys in her toy box back.

Tuesday Confessions

After watching Extreme Couponing on TLC last week I kind of want to be a crazy person also. Seriously! I was so excited for them and what all they were able to get for next to nothing. AMAZING!! So here is the start of the Crazy Topeka Lady.
(P.S. I would be happy to take any coupons not being use off your hands. Thanks!)

New Year's Eve

2010 ended with a BANG! Literally! I fell down our basement steps after I laid Ryder down for his nap. Look, I understand that I need to lose some more baby weight but I did not realize it was enough weight to be mistaken as Santa (thank you Paisley) or thunder/a tree branch falling on the house (thank you Toby). As a result of the fall I spend most of the day AND night laying on my belly because my bottom was hurting so bad (I think I might have broken my butt but refuse to go to the ER to get an X-ray). I have bruising on my right forearm, scratches on my right wrist, bruising on my right calf and a VERY sore rump. (Sorry no pictures)

Our game plan for New Years Eve:

The plan was to fake Paisley out and watch the ball drop from last year at 10pm but she had different plans. She was so excited she didn't go to sleep 11:15pm. So we watched the ball drop live in NYC and I have to say that I was a little sad to see Dick Clark (he looked & sounded awful). For our celebration we went all out; we got the good plastic toasting glasses, wine (for Mommy & Daddy), apple juice for Paisley, a bottle of the good stuff for Ryder, beads, and horns to help us celebrate in style. It was nice to have time at home just the four of us.

Cheers to the New Year!
