When you read “Burn” think Kelso, a-la ‘That 70’s Show’.

The Back Story:
On the way to drop Paisley off at Pre-school this morning the Cee-Lo song “Forget You” came on the radio.

The Conversation:
Paisley: Mom can you please turn this song up? I really really like it!

Me: (A little hesitant) Sure.

(I know, what you are thinking….What am I doing listening to THAT song with Paisley in the car. Well to be honest I am not sure but it was the version that says Forget you. So it isn’t that bad, right? Right?!)

Paisley: (Singing) mumble, mumble…. driving around town…mumble, mumble…. Forget you! OO, OO, OOO….mumble, mumble……Forget you! And forget her too!

Paisley: Mom, I think the guy that sings this is the same guy that was the voice of Louis the alligator.

Me: Louis the alligator? I’m confused, who are you talking about?

Paisley: (Sigh/roll of the eyes) Mom, he is the alligator on Princess and the Frog, remember?

Me: (Thinking/listening to Cee-Lo’s voice) Yeah, I guess they do sound alike.

Paisley: (Sigh/roll of the eyes) Duh, they sound alike because they are the SAME person!

(Obviously annoyed with my inability to keep up on the conversation and know the facts – facts according to Paisley that is)

Paisley: Mom, I thought that mom’s and dad’s know everything so how come you don’t know stuff all the time?

Me: (Shaking my head and smiling) Well, I guess that is what happens when you don’t go to college.

(I decided to take a chance and plant a seed)

Paisley: Well, I want to go to college so I can be smart like Dad! (Said as she folded her arms across her chest and looked out the window.)

I would like to remind you that Toby did not go to college either. So somehow Toby appears smarter to Paisley than I do. And that my friend is how my five year old successfully burnt me in less than five minutes on our drive in this morning.

Tuesday Confessions

I am NOT a big fan of Kate Gosselin!  Nope, not at all!

For those of you that have enough sense to stay far away from this train wreck I will fill you in on why I dislike her so.  On Monday night's episode of "Kate Plus 8" the family was in New Zealand and good ol' Kate (who is afraid of heights mind you) decided to jump off the tallest building.  Good idea Kate!  Way to use your head.  The lead up to the jump she looked and sounds absolutely ridiculous. She was crying and acting like a drama queen.  Then she was super rude to the helper/guide; Brad.  I felt so bad for him but he handled very well.

So, now I am finally over Kate Gosselin and her craziness! Looks like I will be getting back 30 minutes of my life on Monday nights.

A Sneek Peek

In between rounds of sickness at our house I was able to get Ryder in for his 10 (well more like 10 1/2) month photo shoot at JC Penney's. I am super happy with how they turned out!

Note: I took these pictures with my phone while viewing them on the website. So the pictures that I ordered are better quality. I don't get to pick up the pictures for another week and I couldn't wait any longer to share them with you all!

Enough Already!

I spent the afternoon at home with Paisley today (Toby will be home with her tomorrow & Friday).  She is sick, AGAIN!  This time she has walking pneumonia.  The doctor gave her an inhaler (that she HATES because it tastes bad) and antibiotics so maybe she will be better soon.

I was home on Tuesday with Ryder (Toby was home with him on Monday) because he has had pooh pants for almost 2 weeks.

It feels like our house has been a merry-go-round of sickness for the past few months.  And we may have gotten a few people sick at Megan's reception because of it.  Note to self (and others): Don't get your feelings hurt if we can't make it to something due to sickness. Trust me, you don't want is there!  On the bright side, we may have reached our sickness quota for the year.  Maybe?  Hopefully?  Hey, a momma can wish, right?!

I would like to go on the record and say:
  1. I am sick of changing pooh pants and cleaning vomit.
  2. I miss sleep.
  3. I am tired of walking up and down the steps 20+ times a day doing laundry so my kids have clean clothes to get sick on.
  4. And most of all it breaks my heart to see my kiddos like this:

Tuesday Confessions

I am addicted to photo slideshows set to music.

I know they may not be the coolest and are pretty cheesy but I can't help myself. I LOVE them!

In fact, I just saw an episode of How I Met Your Mother and they had an intervention for Marshall because he overused them. I do not feel that I am at that stage yet but I might be close.

The Next Step

So the next step on the path of me getting better/finding peace/being happy is quitting my job!

That's correct, I am doing it. After almost 7 years with the Secretary of State's office I am leaving (for a second time - first time was after Paisley was born and it only lasted 6 months).

My last day will be June 3rd and I can't wait!!
I have a game plan this time to help me be a successful stay at home mom. I have a support system here in town to help when I feel like I am losing my mind, resources for free activities, and plans for a fun play area at the house.  (More on the play area later -I hope Toby doesn't read this post because my play area project is planned for one of his up coming work trips.) Oh, how I LOVE surprise projects!

Play Time at Home

Last month my friend Brandy and her SUPER cute son Grant came to town for a visit while her hubby was away on business (why sit at home when you can visit friends, right?!).  We enjoyed two nights of play time at our house (with our other friends Maggie and Tony).  My favorite part about others playing at our house....the kids pretty much entertain themselves!  And on the third night we went out for dinner and drinks without the kiddos.  Talk about a good time!

Rylee's Birthday

Nine years ago today I was given the greatest gift...I was made a first time AUNT!!

You were the first new little cutie added to the family and everyone was in love!

So many smiles, laughs, hugs, and kisses.

Today you are nine but please remember regardless of how much you grow...

you will always be this small

and cuddly in my mind!

Happy Birthday Rylee Rue!
