VBS 2011

This year's theme was "Shake it Up Cafe"

Mon - Be ready for God!
Tue - Give happily to God!
Wed - Believe fully in Jesus!
Thur - Remember Jesus Ofter!
Fri - Celebrate God forever!

This year's mission project "Operation Backpack and Topeka hunger needs".  Paisley LOVED getting money out of her piggy bank, Toby's car and junk drawl. It really hit home for Paisley that she was helping make a difference for someone that needed help.  Now she is randomly get a toy or clothes or food item and bring it to me and ask if we can donate it to someone that needs it more.  I LOVE her big caring heart!

Bible Bite:

Tuesday Confessions

I am obsessed with BOOKS!!!  Not only do I read and re-read them but I collect them and decorate with them.  In my next house I will have a library to house them all.

Maybe something like this:

Or these:

Oh, the possibilities are endless!

Rewind - Easter 2011

As promised, here are the detailed from our Easter (yes, this post is WAY late but better late than never - right?).

This year we celebrated Easter a little differentlly.  Due to the kiddos battling back to back rounds of sickness we chose to stay home and hide from any and all new grems.  There was no early morning Church service for us.  No big family dinner or egg hunt at GiGi and Papa Jim's house.  We didn't even have an egg hunt at our house but before you go feeling sorry for the kids they still had Easter baskets with goodies and eggs.

Rewind - Mommy Daughter Date (April)

Yes this one is an old one also but it is one that was promised as well.

We started off our mommy/daughter date with an Easter party at Paisley's school.

After the party we went to the mall and had lunch, did a little shopping and Paisley even did the bouncy thing.  I hope this is one of those days Paisley will remember when she gets older because I know I will.

Rewind - Mommy Baby Date (April)

Ryder's daycare was closed so I took the day off of work and what did we do...we visited the ladies at my work.  He enjoyed the attention from the ladies, as always.

Then we had lunch at the salad place and made it home in time for a nap.

After our nap we had a little free play before we had to get Paisley from preschool. He is TROUBLE!!

Rewind - Branson (April)

Our trip to Branson

The kids did great in the car!  They slept for the first half of the trip then we stopped half way for a bathroom break and to stretch our legs so they were able to make the second half of the trip with ease.  After we checked in to our hotel we wanted to get out and let the kids run so went walked the outlet shopping area.  Fun for EVERYONE!!

Day two of our trip we visited the Hollywood Wax Museum.  Paisley was a little unsure at first but then she opened up and had fun.

Then we went next door to the Mirror Maze.  This did not go over very well with Paisley.  At some point Paisley and I got separated from Toby and Ryder and she flipped out big time!  Not only did she cry until we found Toby and the exit but she was so freaked out that I had to carry her until we were outside.  So not fun!

After the Mirror Maze we went to the downtown shopping strip.  It was so sad to see all of the flooding.  The different stores and restaurants that were closed and the houses that had water up to the roof.  It made my heart break for the families and what they had lost.

Day three of our trip was low key. We had lunch on the strip were the kids were full of smiles for the camera, then we had an old time family picture taken and ended our night with dinner in the room and a little pool time.

It has been tree months sense our little mini family vacation to Branson and Paisley still talks about it.   This just goes to show that you don't have to go to Hawaii or Disney to make fun family memories.

Splash Park

On Saturday the kids and I met friends at the new splash park in good old G-town (Grandview - my old stomping grounds).  Cassie and I enjoyed catching up while our kiddos played.  But it was a little weird for us to be playing at the splash park and on the new play equipment when I remember playing at that very same spot when it was a pool.  Crazy how things change!

P.S. Our AC is now working again.  YEA!  And all it needed was a new cap of some sort.

I think our AC got a little jealous of me showing so much love for the dishwasher because it has decided to stop working.

This was our not so friendly welcome home today at 6:00pm and by the time we left the house (around 8:30pm) it was up to 101.   I guess that will teach me to play favorites with my appliances!

I have never been more thankful that Toby works out of town so much. Can you say free hotel that is super cold because it has a working AC? Score!! And the kids don't seem to mind that much.  They have a new place to explore/play and a pool.

Tuesday Confessions

My favorite appliance in the house is my......dishwasher.

It isn't the newest or most fancy model but it sure makes my life a little bit easier!

The Meaning of Success

While I was still working (outside the home) and struggling with what would be best for me and my family a friend sent me this email.

"To laugh often and love much; to win the respect of intelligent persons and the affection of appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to give of one's self; to leave the world a bit have played and laughed with enthusiasm and sung with exultation; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived...this is to have succeeded!"  -Ralph Waldo Emerson

This was a different definition of success than any I had ever heard before and I liked!  It made me rethink what I was doing and changes I could make to achive this kind of success.

Our FUN on the 4th

This year we headed down to GiGi and Papa Jim's house to celebrate the 4th.  We got there before everyone else so we had a little one on one play time them (and their toys).

The boys had to stop and take a drink break.

After lunch it was pool time and the kids proved that they are fearless in the water.

Before heading home we stopped to see Josh and Kristin's new place and I see lots of family gathering taking place there in the future.  It is soooo nice!

Then Toby and I enjoyed fireworks on the drive home while the kids slept.

I hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th of July!
